Volos...for 1 week!, then Skiathos

Already 10 days since the last update, but after leaving Orei, Friday July 12, and Kai Robert found out where a small leak came from, we decided that it was best to sail to Volos - a slightly larger city with opportunities for repair .

We contacted Pefkakia Boatyard and were promised that a mechanic would come in the evening to look at it. It was as Kai Robert had found out, a small leak in the weld on the exhaust cooler. We were then staying (at first) to Monday, when Kai Robert dismantled the part and the mechanic picked it up to take to the workshop. We spent the weekend seeing big part of Volos town by bike, we have with us folding bikes 😀👍. In the boatyard it was a loose dog (one of many) who adopted us, he wanted to be friends and come aboard. He wasn't allowed , but sneaked aboard when we were not there. He got food and water and he was baptized "Captain".

During the weekend we found out that the batteries did not charge properly, so we had to have an electrician 😏. Okay, new batteries were needed, so we ordered them for delivery on Tuesday. So .... came the mechanic back with the welded part, but told that this part started to get very bad, so we should order new ..... Well okey , but that part (the end piece) has gone out of production, so we then had to order the entire "exhaust cooler " which will be delivered to Skopelos.

The batteries came, and Kai Robert and the electrician finally got the old ones out and the new ones in place - everything is adapted to the millimeter, so no wobble here, 🥵 .

Finally, Thursday 18th we left Volos. We had great sailing all day and anchored in Osos Niès in the evening. Friday we sailed to Koukounaries Beach on Skiathos and on Saturday we sailed into Skiathos town.

Here we find that it is not easy to have your own boat, ie not be a day cruiser, difficult to berth the quay, we were chased and threatened with 500 euros in fine. We left and anchored up in the bay and went in again at. 21.30 and berth somewhere else. It is also "impossible" to get water, but we still have water and will fill up at Skopelos instead.

Today, we have rented scooter and speed around the island on partly impassable roads, but we found some nice beaches😎.

Tomorrow we sail to Skopelos, and if we, Monica, are lucky, we will sail past the chapel from the Mamma Mia movie, it is a "must see". 🤪

My name is Monica. Like to have system and order, and often gets comments , espesially about the dishwasher, - have no idea what they mean, I just want order and space for as much as possible. Didn't like the sea very well 15 years ago, but things change (thankfully) - and now it's time for a long trip. Kai Robert is very persistent :-).

My name is Kai Robert. Sailing, and especially "Blue water sailing", has long been the dream, and now it was time to do it. Everything I haven't tried before, I'm probably good at (Pippi). If not, then Monica will fix it.
