Mamma Mia-rock, Skopolos , Skiros , then to Lesvos

Updated: Sep 17, 2021

Here's an update of the last 10 days.

We just had to sail to the Mamma Mia cliff😎 and the chapel was visited 😀. .. been there ... A beautiful bay where after climbing up to the chapel, we bathed in the crystal clear water before hoisting the anchor and sailed in to Skopelos. There we picked up an exhaust cooling pot sent from Athens, and Kai Robert got it fitted 👍 - a new day with mechanical work😀

We then sailed on to Kira Panayia, a nature reserve where there is to be "monk-seals", unfortunately we did not see any, but the wild and beautiful goats walked ashore - the bay we anchored in was great. The trip then went on to Linaria, Skiros, with a wonderfully helpful port service - met us in dinghy and helped us as we berthed stern-to in to the pier in strong side winds. Here we rented scooters and let the surroundings and smells sink in. They have a large military airport north of the island, forbidden area of course with F16 ++ We had to visit Nyfi where there is a natural water source that comes from the mountains - the locals come here every week to collect their drinking water. Skyros town has a fortress on top, like so many other places, but the houses built around the top are so close and on top of each other that there are only about 1 m wide "streets". Beautiful and different 😊.

On Sunday, we headed for Lesbos, a Greek island nearer the Turkish side of the Aegean Sea. A trip of about 80nm. We started at 07, and had good wind. There was gradually more wind than reported (constant 11 ms) and periodically large enough waves, "climbed up to then plunge down the other side", the video is before it got rough, then it was no filming.....

We were lucky to experienced the visit of 4 dolphins surfing and jumping beside us. Absolutely amazing 😀. It took us 14 hours before we reached Lesvos, and we got a beautiful sunset before finding anchorage in Scala Erresous.

Well there we discovered that water had entered through a hatch that was not closed properly, and down into a shelf / cupboard and both tablets and PC swam in salt water + 60% of all clothes and shoes😏😪. Not good - checking twice now that everything is closed when we start sailing ....

In the morning we went to Molyvos (on the UNESCO list), a wonderful place on the north side of Lesvos. Here we met Per Erik, Monica's boss, and his wife, Nora (and their friends). We were invited home there on a drink and then went out to dinner together in the harbor - very nice 😊.

We are now ready for departure. The tour continues around Lesbos and south, first to more Greek islands and eventually to Turkey. And we'll repair some more .... sailing ⛵️
