Update after 9 days with extra crew.
On Tuesday, August 20th came Dennis and Nina, Kai Robert's sister. They came by plane to Izmir and then by bus to Cesme. We had a nice evening with dinner and a tour of the "Bazaar". On Wednesday, after having been with the harbour master to correct the crew list, we headed south-east along the Turkish coast. It was quite windy sailing, but both Dennis and Nina had a great experience.
We were to anchor up in a deep bay in the afternoon where only a few huts for fishermen or "other" lived in, and this was subsequently named "Kjuttavika" by Nina, when 2 guys set out kayaking against us (thought we had anchored up at the head of the bay) but suddenly turned when they saw that we were leaving ... Hmmmh 🤔.
So then we sailed on to Dogan bay and what was planned to be a quiet evening, but here it was a police action with sirens and blue lights and search action for someone who we saw was, or had been in a van down by the water. There was also a "patrol boat" in the bay around us, but no one contacted us and we were anchored all night. The blue lights were on during the night and the next morning we saw that one of the cars was a big car with a radar on the roof. Had this been an attempt of human smuggling? - don't know, but at least an exciting day and night.
We sailed on to Kuşadası, here we were to check out of Turkey the next day - again a long procedure. The morning before we went to the customs, Kai Robert, Dennis and Monica took a trip to Ephesus (several kilometers inland), an ancient city, one of the seven wonders. Absolutely fantastic 😀, - the streets and buildings are some of the most beautiful I've seen, - the city was formerly a port city, but after a severe earthquake the water withdrew 6 km.
On Friday we sailed to Samos and then came back to Greece, here we again had to go to passport control, customs and harbourmaster - now it was entry to Greece to be documented 😀.
At Samos we saw that it started to burn on the ridge on the other side of the bay where we were anchored - the fire was also commented on in Norwegian newspapers. Now our passengers must have experienced enough "drama"?
The next few days we visited several beautiful ports - we were on Nisos Agathonisi 👍, Nisos Leros and a fantastic bay named Vathy, on Nisos Kalymnos 😍, before sailing to Kos on Wednesday. In Kos, it was again a trip to the Customs Office for change of crew list, because Dennis and Nina returned home on Thursday 29 August.
Very nice with visitors 😀.
Kai Robert and I drove around the island, we were in Pyli, the old capital, and in Palaio Pili, a 10th to 12th century city with a castle on top, a little scary climbing in slippers (a little known attraction, but very nice). We were also in a forest where there were "wild" peacocks - think they had become quite used to humans, but fun nonetheless. We drove to Kardamena, - here we bumped in to a football pub where they showed the Man.U./Southampton match. There were only people from the British Isles in the pub and for them it was not just entertainment😀😩😱
On Sunday, September 1st, we sailed to the port of Kalymnos, and eventually we will be heading for Santorini - a journey sailing with the Meltemi 😊
